L. David Roper
'Entropy, Complexity and Sustainability'. Dave is a PhD physicist and Professor Emeritus at the University of Virginia Polytechnic Institute. He establishes the correlation between physics and biology and embraces the widespread use of solar energy as a means of reducing entropy - the measure of disorder in a system which, if left unchecked, will eventually lead to chaos.

Dianne holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from Westfield State University and a master’s degree in environmental studies with a focus on conservation biology, from Antioch University, New England. In her capacity as Staff Scientist in the International Program, Dianne works to protect wildlife around the globe from unsustainable trade, with a focus on marine aquarium fish and various reptile species.

Karenna Gore
'The Importance of creating relationships in the recent rise of the Environmental Justice Movement'. Karenna is an American author, lawyer, climate activist and daughter of former US vice president Al Gore. She graduated from both Harvard and Columbia University and is the founder and executive director of the Center for Earth Ethics at Union Theological Seminary in New York, formed in 2015 to address the moral and spiritual dimensions of the climate crisis. Her discussion today focuses on two fracked gas pipelines proposed to run through the south eastern states of West Virginia, Virginia, and North Carolina. Her advocacy is anchored in the moral injustice inherent in the discrepancy between who is causing climate change and who is suffering most from its effects. She highlights the importance of relationship in the recent rise of the Environmental Justice movement.
